Kyrkostrand-Jungman School is a local school for pupils from Kyrkostrand, Kivilös, Staffansnäs and Lappfjärd. We also have students in our school who live in other neighbourhoods in Jakobstad. The school provides kindergarten and grades one to five. This school year, we are placing an emphasis on communication and reading. During the spring term we will also focus on outdoor activities and exercise. Our students study in modern, well-equipped classrooms where IT education plays an ever-increasing role. We prioritise structuring small groups to be taught by qualified and motivated teachers. Teaching assistants provide extra support in nearly every classroom.
We have 170 general education students divided into 10 classes. These students are entitled to special and remedial education. Special education teacher, Annika Björk, works with small groups of students, supporting and strengthening them in their learning with her structured approach and with very personalised and concrete teaching. She also conducts regular standardised tests and makes diagnoses.
